aghhhhhh. We made it.
We drove there in one day- creating car madness. And tom-tom/gps took us through some serious backwoods of Alabama places. We found a different route coming home. And, stopped over half-way through. MUCH better. Still 12 hours, but better split up.
Tanner loved: "snorkeling with dad!" (ryan adds, we can't forget the jellyfish incident and how he thought he was "going to die"- Tanner, so calm in the midst of stress). Tanner did save Landon's hand from the elevator door, loved the fighter jets at the Air Force Armament exhibit on base at Fort Walton, and lived in his swimsuit.
Emma did not love the beach, mostly the sand. But she did love to swim in the pool. Landon, not much of a speaker yet, would protest if we went the opposite way of the pools to go get a meal or do something un-water related. I heard Ryan say toward the end of the week- Tanner, should we have just gotten a hotel room closer to home to let you guys swim or what?
We walked on the pier, played at the beach playgrounds, swam at various pools, shopped at the outlets, ate some gelato and fish. Our condo had a full kitchen which was a huge help with kids that preferred not to leave the resort.
I over packed clothes for certain, read both 1&2 of the Twilight series, and kept inside during most the day-Jackson is too little for the sun. What I know- we need a suburban. And, Ryan lost his wedding band. Please return if found.

"I don't like the sand." Emma

I am glad you are home safe and that your car made it!
Yep, a pool, that's all my kids need to have a good vacation. Glad you guys made it and even had fun!
Sounds like a success. I don't know how you found time to read. Ryan must have really helped. Good for you. We're headed to the Cali beach this coming Sunday. I'll try to take pictures. We'll miss you.
Awesome! That beach is gorgeous! It looks like you guys had a great time.
I am so glad to see a picture of you with Landon & Emma in the pool- kudos to Ryan for snapping that one! The beach does look beautiful I am glad that you had fun and even more glad that you are home safe.
that looks dreamy! i love all of the pictures, your kids are so cute, and that white sand, ahhh! glad you had such a great time...i have yet to read the twilight books, maybe someday ;) hopefully your car dream comes true. it's amazing how much room 4 kids take up in a car!!
Wow what a fun trip! I have been to Destin a couple times and it is the best beach! I really want to take Anthony there sometime. So glad you had a great trip!
Sounds like the kids had a lot of fun...not you and Ryan need a vacation. I'm sorry Emma didn't like the sand, it's a good thing she didn't live in Grenada with us.
Looks like so much fun Lacey - I know vacay with kids is sometimes exhausting, but I hope you got a great change of scenery anyway!
I'm so glad to hear you're an overpacker. I'm in Utah right now wondering how I'm going to get all of these clothes home. Looks like you had a wonderful time in Destin. They call it the "Redneck Riviera" in Memphis. Everyone goes there.
You guys are such great parents to brave such a fun trip. We are always too scared to attempt vacations with our kids. Meanwhile, our kids are growing up without memories of family vacations.:) I can relate to Emma about the sand. You are probably still finding it as you unpack.
Zane ate at Fudpuckers 17 years ago and still holds on to the t-shirt he got there on Spring Break. I am glad to see that you guys have something in common. I know it was A LOT of work, but the photos still make it look sooo much fun. We missed you guys.
I remember thinking when the girls were little "Why are we trying to have a vacation???", but it sounds like you had a great time! It was fun seeing Summer and Melissa- when are you bringing the kids to Disneyland and staying with Uncle Lynn and I? The Kershaw Hotel is always open!
