Tanner

said he thought he had Tuesday, Veteran's Day, off. Ryan had it off and so we assumed it was a holiday. But it wasn't a school holiday. The bus came and went. Ryan said we were duped. (we were).

I love Tanner. But he's had a bad attitude lately. Enough was enough. I put him in a cold shower with his clothes on last night. Ryan and everyone watched. I eventually turned it warm, but reminded him that as much as he doesn't like a cold shower, we, I, don't like listening to his whining and complaining. That he needs to be quick to obey and do things joyfully (like brush his teeth which he wasn't, which was just a series of events that he wasn't happy about doing yesterday.) He felt awful and embarrassed and I loved him better and he got his happy back and was happy this morning and Ryan said I was too harsh and you know what, I think Ryan might need a cold shower too :)

Lacey--I LOVE all your homemade stories--they make me laugh and cry--sometimes at the same time. Don't you remember when you girls were younger and leaving for school from Grandma's house in the morning, how on occasion she would threaten to turn the hose on Melissa is she didn't hurry up and stop making you all late for school. I had already left for work and so missed those moments--but dang a cold shower would seem way better because you "could" make it warm. I love that Tanner boy and miss him more than you can know. Next time I think you should tell him--That's it--you're going to your Grandma's house!

I remember when Aunt Julie gave me a cold shower!! She said that she was as wet as I was :) Hang in there, this too will be a moment to share as he gets older.

Love it! As you were describing Tanner, I was nodding my head (currently dealing with the same attitude problems). Your solution cracked me up! And Ryan questioning your methods?! Do they ever learn to just agree and go along. Probably not, but love them anyway.

A cold shower?? That is too funny! I wouldn't be surprised if Marla implements that into Gracee's possible timeout schedule. :)

OK, so I am computer illiterate... I looked all around and I cannot figure out how to switch the picture for the new one? I am SO sorry.

My e-mail is erinstaffy@yahoo.com if you need it.

Thank you!!!

Hey is must be that age. I have one of those that is like that. I'm glad that I'm not the only one that has to go throw this.

Personally - that was a great unabusive life lesson that you taught Tanner. Wish I had thought of that soooo many years ago! I will have to share that with my children :) So glad you had a wonderful visit from Don and Sue. they are the best, as you and Ryan will continue to become too. How soon do you hear where you will be going?

Ok that is classic from our childhood punishments! Amen...Ryan needs a shower and it won't be turned warm! Maybe after your weekend away he has a better appreciation for ALL day whining! Uh- that thing about the hose os soooo not true! You guys always walked too fast!
