Not in hand, but by phone this morning.
But, they are still issuing them to us. It ended up being our first choice. (Yes, we changed our wish list at the last minute. We were concerned about the cost of living in California.) The Air Force enticed the doctor at the base we wanted to leave by offering him London, England- just what his family wanted the opportunity for. Ryan and I have both felt through all the prayers (please put us near family, or at least west!) and bureaucracy of the military that we would go where are Heavenly Father would have us. It is also nice to see the Air Force really did go to bat for us- wanting us to be happy while Ryan serves. Maybe the Air Force could ship our friends from here there too?
So, here we come Mountain Home, Idaho. Please be a good home for us and since my husband is possibly the only internist there, don't deploy him- Ryan says we'll worry about that later. Today is a happy day. We're moving next to Grandma.
(ps- Mountain Home Air Force base is just outside Boise by about 40 miles).
(pps- Our orders can still be changed up until the first work day. This happens if someone has a family emergency. Meaning, if someone has a traumatic event happen and they need our base for family support in the area, we will be reassigned. We hope this doesn't happen. Truth be told, we were the only ones in Ryan's group getting assignments that even wanted this place. )

Yeah !! Now I can visit both of you at the same time! I am keeping my fingers crossed that things continue in the right direction :)
bittersweet news. I'm so glad you got your first choice (and I agree about California!) but we are sooo going to miss you here. You have no idea!!
Congratulations on getting your first choice! I'm happy that you're happy. (but totally sad that it's not California)
OK I'm going to admit that my first raction was of disappointment. That's still far for us to visit. But in my defense, I didn't know that you changed your request. So yes, I'm happy for you. I have an Aunt in Boise. I've been stranded there for 3 weeks when I visited my sister who was playing v-ball at Boise State and my car broke down. So I do feel a sense of familiarity. At least maybe we can meet in the middle sometime. I am so happy that you'll be near your mom. That will be a hhuge blessing if Ryan does get deployed. Congratulations. We're sending lots of love your way.
I'm so happy for you! Congrats and good luck! Hopefully we can meet up sometime!
Yea IDAHO! :) I'm so happy you are happy!!!
Lacey, congrats! You will love being closer to family but forever miss Louisville (it's a special place). If you brave driving to ID with the kids, you have a place to sleep, should you choose to drive through Denver.:) Good luck in the coming months with the move. I wouldn't wish selling a home and moving cross country with kids upon anyone . . . it'll be over soon.:)
How exciting! I really like Idaho, and even tried to talk my husband into finding a program up there! Too bad they didn't have one yet! But I'm excited to be able to see you when we come to visit!
Wow! That's so exciting. Now we need to have a waalkes cousin reunion because atleast 5 of us will live within a few hours.
So happy for you!! It will be so nice to be by family again. So here's praying that everything stays put and the Doc doesn't get reassigned.
Great news for you, but sad for me. I'll just stay in denial. . .I'm getting good at it. Your family will definatly be missed. Today Molly and I were playing play doh and she made "Emma Williams out of pink gooey love."
That is funny! I think Idaho created a happy medium. Super happy for you guys to get what you indeed wanted. CA is an interesting place...with its pros and cons. Idaho will be great for your fam!
Loves all around and a huge sigh of relief. Don't worry-- I RARELY, if ever, have heard of changing Dr.s orders....maybe if it was to Hawaii or San Diego=))
Congratulations!!! I think I heard a big sigh westward! Boise is a great place to raise a family - though you will be a little away from it!
I am so excited! I am sure our families will get to meet up now - and if you ever get nostalgia for Logan, you have a place to stay. Hooray for you and for us!!!
So happy for you! You guys deserve your first choice! I know being close to fam is a huge blessing for you.
Maybe your prayers are more potent than my self-absorbed ones lately. :) Could you pray that eventually we can go west too? :) Cleveland anyone?
SO HAPPY for you guys!
We are going to miss your family so much Lacey... but we are happy for you. It will be good to be closer to family.
I think it's awesome Lacey! I pray the orders stick!
I can't stop smiling. I too hope Mt Home is a safe, gently landing for your family. I hope you find the perfect home to nest in. To be truthful, I still can't quite believe it. I'll let it settle in and keep right on smiling.
I am grinning from ear to ear. I envision BBQS on occasional Saturdays after your Costco runs. :)
You know you are ALWAYS welcome at our place!
YEAH FOR LACEY! I am so so so so SOOO happy for you! What a load off your shoulders, right???
How cool! I'm so happy for you. How nice to be somewhat close to family again. Congrats!
That is wonderful! We're so happy for you guys!
Hurray! That day finally came, and I bet you see light at the end of the tunnel after all of these years.
I can't remember if I told you, but I went to school in Boise. I don't know as much about Mountain Home, though I have stopped there many times to fill up on gasoline. I think that you will love that area of Idaho. I'm really happy for your family. I wish your family the best. Congratulations Lacey!
Dad and I are so very happy for our sweet family. Heavenly Father knows our needs. Your Mommy is so blessed to have you so close. We are so blessed to have you all a lot closer. We have even checked out flights to salt Lake. They are pretty cheap. Then we could just rent a car and drive to Idaho. I am getting so excited just thinking about it.Lots of love to all my babies!!!!!
We are thrilled for you! Congratulations. We are so happy you will be close to family and I know you will be happy there. A happy day indeed!
