Question?

Can I pull this off?

Does this look like a large garbage bag mashed into a pumpkin?

I was asked by my new bishop, "If you could have any calling.....?" To which, I replied. "Activity Chairperson???"... To which, a couple weeks later it was extended to me, and to my husband, 1st counselor in the young men's (about Ry's calling.... I guess you need to hunt, own a truck, a motorbike/quad thing, or play football, and since, Ryan played junior college football, he fit the requirement. When he was announced for his calling, no mention was made of him being an eagle scout, or husband, or doctor, or new Airman. No. Just that he played "college football" to which I saw him cringe, because it was "junior" college and that was over 10 years ago. Although, I think he's in pretty good shape. Just less hair.)

Anyways. I am the Activity Chairperson. I put together a list of activities I would like to do and then I got my budget. Pretty much like 10 bucks. I could not believe it. And I have the Trunk or Treat, November Pie Social, and Christmas Breakfast.

Do you think my garbage bag pumpkins (I was thinking of making 30-40 of them for the round tables) look like garbage? I am at loss on how to pull this off. I ordered orange tablecloths and would like to layer them with cheesecloth, piles of yard leaves, and then the pumpkins. Does this look as cheap as it is?

Any ideas out there? Here's my press posters/flyers/insert.

ps- did I mention, I know no one. And have no committee. Stephanie H. where are youuuuuuuu?

you are cracking me up!!! I don't know why you are worried. Everything you do is so great!!!

Isn't that always the story with church.. make it look like a million bucks, and btw, you have zero budget!
NO I do not think they look like stuffed garbage sacks.. you are really funny! If you wanted to add something you could add some green leaves around the stems and some crepe paper swirlies...
What about a trunk decorating contest? that wouldn't cost anything, the prize could be a plate of cookies or a make a cheesy "oscar" type statue as the prize.. (like white elephant type)...
I'm sure that it is going to be AWESOME! You are seriously one of THE most talented people I have ever met when it comes to this kind of stuff...
Good luck!

You an a AMAZING lady....and to pick that as your dream calling, well all I can say is WOW. The pumpkins are too cute. They SO look like pumpkins. You are gonna ROCK that ward!! They are SOOO lucky.

ps- I would hands down pick RS teacher every time...if the Bishop let me pick. 30 minutes once a month....that I can handle. I'm struggling with cub scouts...I like to procrastinate, so I feel the stress every week.

More proof that we are not blood related. That would be my nightmare calling. I so want to be in YW's and I'm stuck in the library. What kind of calling is that? So boring. Cory was just put in as YM President so I have no chance at YW's for a couple more years at the least.

I love the pumpkins. You will make friends shortly as you always do. I'm sure that everything will turn out beautifully!

Lacey- Your house looks so put together!! I have lived in mine for 6 years and it still doesn't look as nice as yours! I am so glad to hear that Tanner is thriving- he might have just needed a change of venue.
Everytime that Mom tells me about having lunch or Sunday dinner with you I get green with envy- I MISS YOU.

PS Your pumpkins are darling.. You have wonderful ideas. Maybe you should have been the older sister :)

Do pumpkin bowling for the kids (you could have the older kids set up the pins which are purple "squeeze it and the bowling ball is a small pumpkin). Every Halloween Party I've ever done I do this and everyone LOVES it.

Your pumpkins are DARLING.

Thanks for the no budget table decorations!!! I have to do a stake primary social - and still have no idea what i am going to do! Throw some more ideas my way - email me - I need them. Life looks "grand" for you. Just keep waking up and put your best foot forward (except when there is a migraine!).

You're perfect for that calling. I don't think that looks cheap at all. My ward doesn't even put anything on the table, not even a table cloth..now that looks cheap. I think it means a lot to walk into a ward party and see decorations. I know the members love it. I would love that calling too. You don't have to get a substitute to teach, go to sunday morning meetings, and spend someone elses money haha..perfect.
