Worth Mentioning

Several things have occurred over the last few weeks.

First, we went to a Construction Auction and bid on some pre-finished hard wood flooring. We bid against an Amish couple. Interesting. We won 510 square feet at an excellent price. "Congratulations" is said- even if you win the toilets.

Secondly, came the installation. I should have took pictures. No, actually no, I am glad it is done. We thought we were short, but miraculously we made it being shy with just a few planks. Back to the auction for us in August to get the same exact match.

Third, Emma is no longer sleeping in her pack-n-play. This was an option for her. She has a full size bed in her room. Yes she is almost 3. And yes, we are hopeful for the potty success next.

Fourth, Landon says, "Daddy"- not "Mommy". It is as clear as day and he yells it to Ryan as if he won a touchdown with both arms up in the air. Ryan "says" he's working with him on Mommy. I don't buy it.

Fifth, I was bringing a warm loaf of bread and honey to someone whose Grandfather died. I placed it on the front seat passenger side. And yes, Tanner sat on it perfectly flat. It looked like a pita. He had no idea and I asked him, "Didn't your bum feel warm at all Tanner? Like you sat on the bread?" Nope from him, and yes, it was my fault. I left it there. They just got the honey and a hug.

Sixth, we had a roaming big beastly dog in our neighborhood that has a chain like Mr. T would where around his neck. It followed us and the neighbors home from the bus stop and seemed a little friendly. BUT, beastly and I am not a fan. Later in the day I was tending my LDS neighbors happens-to-be-the-girl-I-VT children so she could go to her OB/pregnancy check-up. Oh, don't you worry, that dog bombarded my house when she entered and ran up my stairs and sniffed out my rooms and I stayed downstairs so the more pregnant girl could get him out. I was so brave. The dog FINALLY left and the kids recovered and I hate that dog. It belongs to my neighbor 2 doors down. You would have thought I would have recognized it.

Seventh, we have new pet. In the form of a great shag rug that sheds like a dog. Ryan thinks in a year the rug will look like a hairless rat.

Eighth, we had a visitor. Ryan's sisters husband Nate. He is crazy. And was truly moved by the Louisville Slugger Museum. And he thinks it is incentive enough to move here. And he is crazy- not about moving here- but made us laugh our fannies off.

Ninth, I bought a new table. And got it home thanks to a neighbor. It was from Costco. And Ryan set it all up and guess what? I don't like it. (Laaaacey! was said by him and among other nice things) and so, another nice neighbor helped him take it back. And I bought another table. I have to pick it up Wednesday. Which leads to...

Tenth, I am totally undecided about several factors of insignificance in my life. But am almost decided that I want to be surprised by the gender of this baby. Totally not me. I am a planner. But, I am okay with the surprise. Although, I "feel" like I know what I am having. (Will not be disclosing this in case I am wrong.)

*pictures to come

It was great to read about you and your life lately. The bread smooshing was hilarious, and I highly recommend being surprised at the baby's gender. We did that for our first four, and it was SO cool. (although it was hard not to plan . . .)

Glad to hear you are still alive!

Great post! Although--I really don't relate to being surprised about the baby. I can't stand surprises if I know they don't have to be surprises. Make sense?! Can't wait to see the floor and the new table :)

I was totally surprised Cara. I loved it. Yes, there were days when I really wanted to know, but hearing my doctor say "It's a Girl" was one of the dearest things I have ever heard and to this day is one of the most exciting memories for us. It's pretty much the biggest surprise you can ever give yourself. I say go for it!

Lacey I miss you!! You are so funny! All I can say about the mind change on the table is that...Now Ryan has only a taste of what his specialty decision has been like for you...only a TASTE mind you!!!

Glad you posted all this fantastic information! :) I would have FREAKED!! about the dog, totally not cool. We too recently bought a rug that is wool and SHEDS..which will be lovely with your new wood floors, we have little wool creatures that form in the corners of all our rooms everyday. I loved not knowing Nathan was a boy, now I'm petrified about having a girl someday and being ill prepared...so I have no guts for that surprise.
-ps I heard ryans "LACEY!!" in my head as I read it, so funny!

So fun to read an update! McKay's not fond of "mommy" either. I have heard him say it but right now he calls everything "Da-Da" -- when it's directed at the real thing he says it with extra umph so I know he knows what he means.

Glad about your floor and sorry about Mr. T. Don't think I'd like that either!

I laughed out loud when I was reading your post and got busted by Brett because he thought I was doing family history work...Tanner sitting on the bread reminds me of when I took my dad to the airport in Cincinnati in the middle of July and the seat warmer was on for the entire trip! He never said a word, but he must have wondered why his bum was so hot! It makes me laugh out loud every time I think about it. :) - Kristine

Such a great post! You had a lot to mention and I'm so glad you filled us all in.

Love the new floor. Laughing that they say "congratulations", but it's better than eBay when they say "you won"! No, I bought!

I am glad the installation is over. Whew. Huge project, glad it turned out so well. Now you have something to look forward to bidding on more next year.

Happy that Emma is growing up and hope Landon says Mommy soon. I mean come on, who does he spend 99% of his life with? You!

Laughed really hard at 5-7. Bread, Mr. T and rug. Great stories.

Happy you had a visitor and that he loved the museum so much. I seriously get chills when I watch the movie there.

And I can totally relate to the whole table thing. Almost half of what I buy I shouldn't have because it sits in storage or never is worn or is taken back to the store. I bought new couches when we moved and after a few days I realized I didn't like them that much. After a few tears and rough days, I decided that someday they'll be stuck in the basement in a future house. The thought got me through. I bought them at Sam' Club, rented a UHaul to get them home and had already tossed the boxes, so I'm glad I decided they were OK because they weren't going anywhere! I am very happy you on the other had returned the table. I am praying the next one is just what you want.

And I love that you don't want to find out your babys gender. What a fun surprise for you whole family.

So glad to catch up. You were missed.

Man you guys know how to have fun. I dont think I would want to know the sex of the baby if I had both boys and girls. It will be a fun surprise.

You are so cute. I love reading your blog because you write like you talk. You are such a fun, kind, sweet person. I am so glad you are in Louisville having an adventure with us!

So you have to call me whenever you are in California so I can meet your adorable family. Weird coincidence- I was looking through your blog and noticed that under the "Like to meet them" you have Mrs. Dub's blog. She and her husband are some of Nate and I's best friends here in Chicago. She is absolutely hilarious but I'm amazed that people outside of the area know who she is!

Hi guys! I was seriously laughing out loud when I read that Tanner sat on the bread, I'm not sure why that is soo funny to me. Anyways, We are doing great, Cari has a few more weeks to go, even though I think it will be 2. How about this for the spelling of his name - Matix. I had been thinking Maddox, but we liked the shorter version. We are so excited to see you guys this summer. Ethan and Lexi love to play with their cousins, and are so excited! Take care!
