And testing Ryan's fort-making skills. Tanner said he and the boy across the street did the base and "helped some". From inside the house I kept hearing a "wack" and assumed they were having a snowball fight.

Snow came our way...
Ryan was on-call and when he called home to check in he said his attending was stuck in the snow and he did not know when he would get off. (Ughhhhh... for me. Such long days, but hard on him too I know.) They sent the students home the day earlier and so he was pretty much working as a one-man team. He slept almost 4 hours and hadn't showered in 48 hours and when he got home I made him lunch and he did his wind-down routine of watching some EPSN game and then got up to shower and go to bed, I thought. But, I realized he put on his coat and went outside to play with Tanner. We got a foot or so on our driveway.
Putting this cute cone head happily to work...

The "wack" was the snow being packed into the cubes and the worker was 90% Ryan.
And the boys had fun and the fort/igloo/castle (says Emma) did not collapse on them.

But, Ryan collapsed in bed. I noticed he took some advil or something and when I came up to bed he was snoring. Was it the long shift or the endless shovels of snow? Maybe both. But, we have such a good dad in our home. He always finds time to play and work hard and our kids are blessed to have his example.

Ryan is such a good dad! I literally did an outloud "Aahh" when I read what he did. I'm sure Tanner will always be grateful for his time and love from his dad!
It's SO beautiful where you live!!! I'm jealous!
What a fun daddy! The 'castle' is amazing. The light shining through the top is beautiful.
We took a nice long walk this evening and enjoyed the beautiful pink and orange sunset, but your snow beats our sunset - at least for a day or 2 - can't imagine living in it
I wonder if Tanner knows just how lucky he is to have Ryan for a dad? More importantly I am glad that Ryan takes advantage of all the little opportunities to make memories with the kids. I think that you picked a winner Lacey...
Hey Ryan and Lacey, that looks like soo much fun. Our kids would definitely freeze. they think 65 degrees is cold. Anyways, Cari updated our blog to include the last 6 months or so. Hope everything is well with you guys.

Thanks to Ryan for the father/son memories. I am talking about Ryan and Trevor. Zane was taking a nap. I hope your back heals.
Hope Ryan is recuperated! How nice is it to have husbands who understand how important they are to the kids. Even with their crazy schedules, they take the time to have fun with the kiddos!!
Good job Ryan!!
Wow, that is so cool. Compared to that our measley little snowman looks so sad. We got good snow, but you really got GOOD snow.
It was such a great day for our family too because it was Saturday and our dad was home to help build a fort and play in the snow. Dad's are the best!!!

Wow - that is an amazing dad. I love that he took time for the kids. WE are so lucky to have good husbands who love us and our kids!!!
I called Traci and she said the tow "T-men" were out building an igloo/fort in your front yard. When I saw her picture on her blog I was amazed. My boys were literally drooling as they studied the photos. So cool!
I loved that the real builder was given his due credit. It really was something and the shot from inside could win a photo contest!
We only got about 5 inches of snow, but since I was the one shoveling the driveway (Rich was on call- I feel your pain!) it was plenty deep for me! I should have taken Advil after myself!
So glad you had a great day. It really is fun to get dumped on once in awhile. Yes, ONLY once in awhile.
