Our 3 year old Emma

Emma officially turned 3 yesterday.

She was born a little over 2 weeks early and had some breathing and jaundice problems... we were so happy when she finally was able to stay home. Tanner, 4 at the time, hated leaving her in the NICU and told Ryan, "Boys don't leave their girls!" This still makes us smile... there is no way we could ever forget our Emma.

Days old:

At one:
At two:

3 years old, blowing out her shared birthday cake from Grandma Sue's birthday.

How we love her... we can not help that she loves pink or princess' or babies. Potty training was finally a success when I encouraged her that "only big girls who don't where diapers can hold our new baby." Ryan hopes she grows up to take care of us.. her daughterly duties to her father I suppose. She likes to feel the skin of our stomachs (sometimes annoying), loves to eat salad and strawberries, grapes and watermelon, and she is already sensitive to the feelings of others, noticing sad, hurt and happy emotions, especially of her family. She reminds us that "we are friends." She had a birthday dinner of Pizza and had picked out any carton of ice cream that was pink on the outside- no surprise to us.

Happy Birthday Dear Emma! I loved to watch Elyse be the little mommy to you when you were a baby and now you get to be the mommy to Landon and the new baby!! What a sweet treat it is for your mom to have a little princess as her helper!

Your Emma is such a cutie. How exciting that she is potty trained. Isn't it funny the things that motivate them. Also your trip sounded really good minus the bad shoe choice. Isn't strange to be without your children? Spouse time is a great thing!

She is definitely your child. Her eyes and your eyes are identical. I'm glad you had a good time in Nashville. Isn't it funny how when you go on vacations you just walk and walk. I swear we're always walked out when we get home. But don't you love that mall? I wish we had one too. Glad to see it was worth it and that you had some alone time together.

Happy Birthday to a beautiful little girl. It was so fun to see her photos through the years.

And if she ever feels bad about being the only girl in your family, just think of me and my 5 brothers. It really does have seriously good benefits in the end. Promise!
