Daughter of Diane

What could I ever say to my mom to let her know how thankful I am that she had me? How could I ever express how grateful I am that I am HER daughter? What could I ever do for her to equal her gift of life to me? What form of gratitude is ever enough to thank the woman who birthed me and cared for me hours on end and tried her very hardest to love me and teach me how to make right choices?

I know there is never a limit to the gratitude that I can have towards her.

That said, I am turning 29. (No, not 30 yet. I am still savoring my 20's, thank you.) And want to make note of some gifts my mother has in commemoration of my birth:

-My mom has a design flair- she has a great sense of what goes together cosmetically. She can beautify any space- even my first college apartment. She sewed all my bed linens then and I still find that I look to her in times of my "textile" needs now.

- She is highly loyal. She loves all her friends and family deeply. One of her greatest attributes.

- Many know, but she can make an unbelievably awesome dark chocolate cake. She has followers. She is an overall excellent cook. She loved me enough to know that I don't do well with "weird" food and never made me eat it.

- A bargain shopper that often benefits those in her life. She finds a deal and many reap the benefits. And, you would not know it was an "economical" find either.

- She is a great sounding board. I have had concerns about various things throughout my life and she is great at bringing perspective and balance to my thoughts.

- She is willing to serve. I have fond memories of "pixing" (doorbell ditching) and watching her drop this gift or meal off to another. I remember going with her to drop off stake humanitarian kits at the Church Store and feeling so grateful for her and her serving diligently in her calling. She always serves faithfully. And I have always known it's because she has a testimony of the gospel and His hand in her life.

Wouldn't it be nice if I came with all these gifts just because I am hers? I cherish her as my mom, but especially because as I grow older I continue to learn more about her and her capabilities. Happy Birthday to me because of her.

Wow, that is so sweet. What a kind daughter you are too. Oh and yes, you did have an awsome first college apartment. Who could ever forget Pineview. I know I couldn't. I loved our first semester up there. Memories were made that will last forever. Lucky for me, I met Dave too! Happy Birthday.

What a tender tribute to your mom. I have to say that even though I don't know her, a lot of the things you mentioned I've seen in you -- so you either got them just by virtue of being her daughter -- or she taught you well -- probably both!

Happy Birthday Lacey! You youngin' at only 29! I loved that you turned you celebration into a tribute to your Mom. What an amazing woman and what a joy it would be to have your daughter write such sweet senitments on her big day.

I think once you have a baby, you suddenly understand how much your parents mean to you and you hope you can be the same for your own children.

Hope you have a wonderful day and get a chance to talk to your mom too!

I hope you had a wonderful Birthday! I am so jealious. I wish I could think like you do! The only way I could ever write like that is if I were coping it out of a poetry book or something! You really do have a way with words! Your mom truly is amazing, along with the rest of your family!

What a nice tribute to your mom on your Birthday. Your mom has been someone I've looked up to for a long time. Her quick wit, shopping talent, and confidence are all things I love about her. She was a very successful business woman and when Kate and I were teenagers we used to argue which one of us was going to be a good business woman like your Mom. She truly is inspiring! Anyway Happy 29th. Enjoy every last minute of your twenties!!
