Where's My Peeps?

Emma had a slight meltdown this morning while getting ready for the day. I was luckily able to diffuse the bomb before it caused much damage. The whole thing should have been a “no brainer” sense Lacey laid out 5-6 well matched outfits on Emma’s bed prior to her departure. I casually asked Emma what she would like to wear today pointing to the now limited assortment on her bed. She looked at me and said, “Shicken, daddy” (a.k.a. chicken). I politely ignored her comment and proceeded to hand her a purple shirt and pink shorts from the selection before me. She threw the shirt on the ground and in a louder tone exclaimed “Shicken, Daddy!” “Is she referring to an item of clothing?” I asked myself. “Is there something in her wardrobe with poultry on it? Na, she’s 2, she doesn’t know what she’s saying, right?” As I looked at her perplexed, again she cried out, “Shichen”, know starting to lose it. “Think Ryan, what the heck is she talking about… chicken…chicken?” Then it hit me. “Where’s my Peeps?” She did have a shirt with the before mentioned phrase with a little “chick” on the front. But could I find it. I hurried to the armoire frantically ruffling through stacks of nicely folded clothes. I found what I was looking for and revealed this treasure to Emma and her eyes lit up like Christmas morning. She smiled and sighed, “shicken daddy.” Whew! That was a close one. I’m sure Lacey would have known exactly what she wanted the first time she asked, mothers know those things and Emma’s is no exception.

I know what you’re all thinking, “Wow, two entries in two days. What’s his deal?” I had to keep up the blog in Lacey’s absence, she sets a high standard.

That was a close call - I have had those clothing issues with Elyse and it can get UGLY. Girls, they are a different breed.

What a great Dad!! I am soo grateful that you were willing to share you wife with us for the weekend. I LOVED seeing your sweet little Landon and visiting with my sister. I know that it meant much more work for you and threw the kids' world for a turn- but we needed to see her. Thank-you for lending our 'sister' to us.

Ryan, I think you should be a regular contributor, you have a knack for blogging. And Lacey, thank you, thank you, thank you for dinner. You are seriously so sweet to think of us when you were about to go out of town. I hope you had a great trip and can't wait to hear all about it!

That was one of the sweetest "dad" blogs I've ever read! You should feel good about your single parenting skills- several times I left Lynn with the girls there were trips to the emergency room that involved stitches!
