Thunderbirds, Spackman's & Grandparents

Back in September we had Ryan's parents fly out to visit for the weekend. The Air Force Thunderbird show was on our base and we knew it would be memorable. We enjoyed the pre-show activities set up for families on base and Tanner was able to meet the head Captain of the birds. We walked the tarmac and had a pilot on base tell us endless information on jets (perfect for the boys!)

On the opening day of the show we had the Spackman's come down from their new Boise home. (Jen was my best friend from early medical school and we survived Grenada, impetigo, cloth diapers together.)

Landon was not a fan of the loud jet noise.

My in-laws were awesome to have around all weekend- Ryan had to work the med tent for a shift and so with the noise and crowds I was so grateful for their help and hands. Unfortunately the jets flew right over our home- we are 3 miles from the flight line- and so there was no escaping it for Landon. My mother in law stayed back with Landon one day and she said she thought the show was better from our house-

The Spackmans- I knew her little crew when there were 4 kids and they were under 10. 8 years later their family grew by one, and mine by 4 and we both say 5 is a happy number.

Shot taken by Ryan. The show was amazing. We loved every minute of it. We loved our visitors. And for us- it really was a once in a lifetime opportunity to be on base while an Air show goes on- the next show here is 3 years away and we will be long out of the air force by then.
